Antai College of Economics and Management Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM), Shanghai Jiao Tong University boasts a rich history and tradition which dates back to the Business School of Nan Yang Public School founded in 1903. ACEM is dedicated to educate economic and management talents with international competencies. It promotes scientific and academic innovation, caters to economic and social development, and supports the growth of business. After over 30 years’ unremitting efforts, ACEM has established itself as a modern business school with a good reputation home and abroad, and the first business school in mainland China to have been triply accredited by AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA, the three largest and most influential business school accreditation associations in the world.
School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology The School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology was jointly founded by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Shanghai branch) in 1997. The 139 faculty members, including 51 full professors and 60 associate professors, are dedicated to cultivating diverse and unique talents in undergraduate students and postgraduate researchers. The School is also home to the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism and the Key Laboratory for Genetics Development and Neuropsychiatric Disorder. Our faculties, led by two prominent members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have earned numerous prestigious awards and international recognitions. By the 2017 ESI-based matrix, we ranked in the top 1% world-wide in Biology and Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Microbiology, and Plant and Animal Science. Hosting two state-level education bases, we administer a six-year combined bachelor-master program and an eight-year bachelor-master-PhD program. 1193 students are currently enrolled, including 303 undergraduates and 890 graduate students.

To study the expression of intermediate-conductance-Ca(2+)-activated K(+) (IKCa1) channels in endometrial cancer and its role in regulating proliferation of endometrial cancer cells. Western blot and RT-PCR were used to examine the expression of IKCa1 channels in 13 normal endometrial specimens and 25 endometrial cancer specimens; and RNA interfere...

To investigate the effects of sulindac metabolites on proliferation and apoptosis in the human umbilical vein endothelial cell line ECV304 in vitro. The proliferation profile of ECV304 was determined by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) method. Cell cycle distribution, apoptosis and the ultrastructure of ECV304 were detected by flow cytometry (FCM...
Zhou Botong realised that he had been tricked by Huang Yaoshi so he returned to Peach Blossom Island to demand an explanation from Huang. Huang Yaoshi was still embattled by the loss of his wife. Zhou Botong's confrontational attitude merely fuelled the anger and frustration in him. When Huang Yaoshi blamed Zhou Botong for his wife's death, Zhou retorted angrily that he had also suffered in a similar experience with Liu Ying. Huang Yaoshi and Zhou Botong started fighting but neither of them was able to defeat his opponent. Huang Yaoshi imprisoned Zhou Botong on his island by sealing all possible exit routes. Zhou Botong roamed the island and settled in a cave for the next 15 years. During that period of time, Huang Yaoshi and Zhou Botong taunted each other to fight and kept themselves occupied with their conflict. Their feud is resolved when Guo Jing visits the island and meets Zhou Botong.
Objective: The transcription factor Snail, which is implicated in the triggering of epithelial-mesenchymal transitions (EMT), plays an important role in adhesion, invasion and metastasis of tumor cells. In the present study, we assessed 17beta-Estradiol (E2)'s effect on Snail, E-cadherin and MMP-2 expression of epithelial ovarian cancer cell line...
NANOG is a key transcription factor that is overexpressed and plays an important role in various cancers. Its overexpression is associated with highly tumorigenic, drug-resistant, and poor prognosis. However, the underlying mechanism of action of NANOG in ovarian cancer remains unclear. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which is a critical p...

A cultural events package for the international student community at JI, including excursions into the environs of Shanghai, martial arts, Chinese cuisine and similar classes as well as cultural and social events is strongly recommended to be taken by all students at JI. The cost for the whole package is 2,500 RMB and must be paid in advance of coming to JI.

p53 is the most commonly mutated tumor suppressor gene in human cancers. In addition to the loss of tumor suppression function and exertion of dominant-negative effects over the remaining wild-type protein, several p53 mutants can gain novel oncogenic functions (gain-of-function, GOF) that actively regulate cancer development and progression. In hu...

... This process takes place at the beginning of vascular development and during post-natal life (11,22). Myeloid cells and EPCs are recruited by pro-angiogenic or pro-inflammatory factors to the tumor vascular bed, where they differentiate into ECs and give place to neovasculature (23)(24)(25). Vasculogenesis has a modest impact on tumor vascularization when the angiogenesis pathway is active, however, it is recognized as an important rescue process when this pathway is blocked (10,26). For instance, when angiogenesis is inhibited after anti-angiogenic treatment or radiotherapy, myeloid cells, and EPCs are recruited by the stroma-derived factor 1 (SDF-1) in response to an increased level of hypoxia-inducible factor 1α (HIF-1α) (10,26). ...
Our previous study revealed that estrogen regulates nm23-H1 expression thus promoting cell migration-invasion via activating PIK3/Akt pathway. In this study, we explored the effect of hormone on hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1alpha), a key factor in cancer invasion and metastasis, via activation of Akt signaling transduction pathway. We treated t...
