Jiao Yulu was born in Yuanquan Town of Boshan District, in Zibo city, in Shandong province, to a poor family, on August 16, 1922, during the Republic of China.[3] Both his father Jiao Fangtian (焦方田) and mother were farmers.[3] He had only four years of schooling.[3] His father hanged himself during the Second Sino-Japanese War.[3] Jiao Yulu was conscripted into the Japanese labor and he was sent to coal-mining in Fushun, Liaoning, Manchoukuo.[3] He escaped to Suqian, Jiangsu in the fall of 1943.[3] He had been a farm labourer for two years for the landowner Hu Tairong (胡泰荣).[3]
In the year 404, Huiyuan wrote a treatise On Why Monks Do Not Bow Down Before Kings (沙門不敬王者論).[4] This book symbolized his efforts to assert the political independence of Buddhist clergy from the courts of monarchic rulers. At the same time, it was a religious and political text that aimed to convince monarchs and Confucian-minded ministers of state that followers of Buddhism were ultimately not subversive. He argued that Buddhists could make good subjects in a kingdom due to their beliefs in retribution of karma and the desire to be reborn in paradise. Despite the Buddhists' reputation of leaving their family behind for a monastic life, Huiyuan stated "those who rejoice in the Way of the Buddha invariably first serve their parents and obey their lords."[1]

The cells without FSH treatment we...
Jiao Yulu (16 August 1922 – 14 May 1964) was a Chinese politician. Jiao Yulu was a symbol of the honest Party cadre who devotes himself tirelessly to the Communist State.[1] Jiao Yulu was considered to be a glorious example - Mao Zedong's good student during the period of personal worship. After his death, a campaign to study Jiao Yulu's example was started in 1966. The aim of the campaign was to boost morale and to rally the people to work harder to overcome difficulties. Party members in particular were called upon to follow Jiao Yulu's example by conducting more research and investigations into local conditions, and learn from his leadership style.[2]

In 1896, the Nanyang Public School (南洋公學) was founded in Shanghai by the imperial edict of the Guangxu Emperor, under the Business and Telegraphs Office of the Qing imperial government. On 3 September 2008, Atlantic Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company, agreed to buy China Huiyuan Juice for HK$17.9 billion at HK$12.20 per share, three times more than its closing price of HK$4.14 on the previous day. Its shares closed at HK$10.94 on that day.[4] The proposed takeover was subject to anti-monopoly review by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, which was scheduled to finish on 20 March 2009.[5] On 17 March, it was reported that Coca-Cola was considering abandoning the deal, as Chinese authorities insisted on relinquishing the Huiyuan brand name after acquisition.[6] On 18 March, the Ministry of Commerce disallowed the bid, citing market competition concerns.[7][8]

Song of the Sea and Waves (碧海潮生曲) is a xiao piece whose tune has hypnotic effects on people. The melody can put a person into a trance and the person feels like he is floating in the ocean. Huang channels some of his inner energy into the tune when playing the piece and this increases its power. Huang Yaoshi plays this piece several times to hypnotise Zhou Botong and make him reproduce a copy of the Nine Yin Manual. He also plays it during the second test for Guo Jing and Ouyang Ke.

The pathogenesis of preeclampsia is unclear but is thought to be related to shallow trophoblast invasion. An invasive phenotype is acquired by trophoblasts through the process of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). We proposed that EMT in trophoblasts is deregulated in preeclampsia. The homeobox gene DLX4 plays an important role in epithelial-...
Ovarian cancers are heterogeneous and contain stem-like cells that are able to self-renew and are responsible for sustained tumor growth. Metastasis in peritoneal cavity occurs more frequently in ovarian cancer than in other malignancies, but the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. We have identified that ovarian cancer stem-like cells (C...
We previously showed that the expressing level of FSH receptor (FSHR) increased from ovarian epithelial inclusions (OEIs) to benign ovarian epithelial tumors (OETs) and to borderline OETs, whereas FSHR levels decreased with an increase in carcinoma grade. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of FSHR in OET development. MCV152 cells wit...
... Previous studies have discovered high IKCal expressions in endometrial carcinoma, breast cancer, urinary bladder carcinoma, colon cancer, and glioblastoma cells. [4][5][6][7] This study demonstrated the close relationship between the Ca 2+ -activated K + channel and cervical cancer. [8,9] This study utilized the K + -channel blocker clotrimazole (CLT) and small hairpin ribonucleic acid (RNA) to explore the role played by (and the effect of) IKCal in the proliferation of HeLa cells. ...
... Interestingly, estradiol may play a dual role in modulating NRF2 activity. On the one hand, its metabolites activate NRF2 via the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) (independent of the ER) [29]. While recent studies demonstrated that estradiol leads to an activation of NRF2 in a wide range of cell types [30,31], the estradiol effect was only noted on protein and not on mRNA levels, suggesting that the main effect of estradiol is based on NRF2 protein stabilization [32]. ...

... Mediator complex subunit 19 (MED19) is a member of the mediator that has a key role in the activation and repression of signal transduction or the regulation of transcription in carcinomas ( Casamassimi and Napoli, 2007;Sun et al, 2011). Accumulating evidence has shown that MED19 has important roles in cancer cell proliferation and tumorigenesis, and suppression of MED19 expression induces inhibition of cell proliferation and tumorigenesis in several different tumour types including lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer and breast cancer ( Liu et al, 2012;Wei et al, 2015). Then we speculated that miR-214 played tumorigenic role by its target MED19 in CRC. ...

When the Japanese surrendered in 1945, neither the Communist Party of China (CPC) nor the Kuomintang KMT trusted each other or were actively cooperating. After American-sponsored attempts to negotiate a coalition government failed in 1946, the Chinese Civil War resumed. The CPC defeated the Nationalists in 1949, forcing Chiang's government to retreat to Taiwan. During the evacuation, a part of faculty and alumni was taken to Taiwan by Chiang Kai-shek, founding National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan in 1958.
Obesity is generally acknowledged as a risk factor for endometrial cancer, as accumulated adipocytes partly contribute to the increased production of estrogen which is involved in dysregulated cell growth and metastasis in early endometrial carcinogenesis. Thus we evaluated in this study expression of the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene...
In Chinese grammar de hua (的话) is a very common and important word. It is used either alone or in combination with other words to express “if”. De hua is probably the most common way to express “if” in Chinese, in fact. Because of this, all students of Mandarin Chinese should be familiar with how to use this word, and that's what this guide is for.

Zhou Botong realised that he had been tricked by Huang Yaoshi so he returned to Peach Blossom Island to demand an explanation from Huang. Huang Yaoshi was still embattled by the loss of his wife. Zhou Botong's confrontational attitude merely fuelled the anger and frustration in him. When Huang Yaoshi blamed Zhou Botong for his wife's death, Zhou retorted angrily that he had also suffered in a similar experience with Liu Ying. Huang Yaoshi and Zhou Botong started fighting but neither of them was able to defeat his opponent. Huang Yaoshi imprisoned Zhou Botong on his island by sealing all possible exit routes. Zhou Botong roamed the island and settled in a cave for the next 15 years. During that period of time, Huang Yaoshi and Zhou Botong taunted each other to fight and kept themselves occupied with their conflict. Their feud is resolved when Guo Jing visits the island and meets Zhou Botong.
