To establish a sprouting embryoid body model mimicking early embryonic vasculogenesis in human embryo. Human embryonic stem were (hESCs) were cultured on the mouse embryo fibroblasts and then were induced to differentiate to form three-dimensional EB. The hEBs were cultured in media containing various angiogenesis-related factors: vascular endothel...
OCT4, a stem cell marker, is overexpressed in several types of human cancer and can induce resistance to chemotherapy and inhibition of apoptosis. We previously demonstrated that human follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) can inhibit ovarian cancer cell apoptosis. However, the role of OCT4 in FSH-induced inhibition of apoptosis has not been reported...
Objective To assess the effect of 17β-estradiol(E2) on cell proliferation, cell invasiveness and its regulation of MTA3, Snail and matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) expression in the ovarian clear cell adenocarcinoma cell line ES2, and to further investigate the mechanism involved. Methods We first investigated expression of ERα, ERβ, PR and E-cad...

A long-term treatment with progestin commonly results in progestin resistance in endometrial cancer. So, the aim of this study was to investigate the role of glyoxalase I (GloI), a mediator of chemotherapy resistance, in metformin reversal of progestin resistance in endometrial carcinoma. The proliferation variety of endometrial cancer cells was de...
Huiyuan (Chinese: 慧遠; Wade–Giles: Hui-yüan; 334–416 AD) was a Chinese Buddhist teacher who founded Donglin Temple on Mount Lushan in Jiangxi province and wrote the text On Why Monks Do Not Bow Down Before Kings in 404 AD. He was born in Shanxi province but after a long life of Buddhist teaching he wound up in Jiangxi province, where he died in 416. By late Chinese Civil War, he worked in Weishi County, Henan province until 1951. In June 1953, he was transferred to Luoyang Mine Machine Manufacturing Plant and worked there until 1962.
To identify new genetic risk factors for cervical cancer, we conducted a genome-wide association study in the Han Chinese population. The initial discovery set included 1,364 individuals with cervical cancer (cases) and 3,028 female controls, and we selected a 'stringently matched samples' subset (829 cases and 990 controls) from the discovery set...
Early detection and monitoring the treatment remain the most important factors in improving long-term survival of ovarian cancer patients. New biomarkers that individually or in combination improve the diagnostic performance of existing tumor markers are critically needed. This study uses proteomic approaches to identify new biomarkers for detectio...

Objective: To investigate the chemosensitivity of ovarian cancer SK-OV-3ip1 multicellular aggregates (MCA) to cisplatin and taxol and to explore the possible mechanisms. Methods: Liquid overlay system was employed to obtain MCA. We detected the resistance using trypan blue exclusion testing, clonogenic assay, cell cycle profiles and apoptosis with...
KoGuan Law School Legal education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University can be traced back to special and political classes during the period of Nanyang College in September 1901. However, it was interrupted during the education reform in 1950s until the Law School was re-established on June 8 2002. The law School received the new title “KoGuan School of Law” in 2008 in memorial of the generous donation of Professor Leo KoGuan. KoGuan School of Law has a strong, well-structured and international team of faculty, including 65 full-time faculty members. A variety of research centers within the law school has produced high quality scholarship covering a wide range of fields and disciplines, from constitutional law to law and society, from maritime law to competition law, etc. KoGuan School of Law has explored its own style of educating a new generation of law students and future jurists, and established its own reputation in both academic and practical circles. For the time being, it offers a full-scale legal education system including LLB, LLM, JM, and PhD programs.

Objective: This research was carried out to investigate the effectiveness, rationality, and safety of laparotomy management compared with uterine artery embolization (UAE) combined with methotrexate (MTX) for the treatment of deep implantation cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP II). Materials and methods: Data from 29 patients seen between June 2008 and...
