Gestational diabetemellitus (GDM) is a condition whereby a mother's glucose tolerance is impaired with onset or first recognition during pregnancy which is not either type 1 or type 2 diabetes mellitus. Oxidative stress plays an essential role in diabetes, however, whether it also includes in GDM has not been fully clarified. Therefore, we investig...

In the year 404, Huiyuan wrote a treatise On Why Monks Do Not Bow Down Before Kings (沙門不敬王者論).[4] This book symbolized his efforts to assert the political independence of Buddhist clergy from the courts of monarchic rulers. At the same time, it was a religious and political text that aimed to convince monarchs and Confucian-minded ministers of state that followers of Buddhism were ultimately not subversive. He argued that Buddhists could make good subjects in a kingdom due to their beliefs in retribution of karma and the desire to be reborn in paradise. Despite the Buddhists' reputation of leaving their family behind for a monastic life, Huiyuan stated "those who rejoice in the Way of the Buddha invariably first serve their parents and obey their lords."[1]
Huang Yaoshi is married to Feng Heng and has six apprentices. He has scores of servants on his island, who are deaf and mute. Rumours in the jianghu say that he intentionally disabled them, but in fact, they were already mute and deaf before they became his servants. He recruited them as his servants to relieve them from the social stigma of their impairments so that they can enjoy a better life on his island. However, he does not wish to promote an image of himself as a kind and compassionate person so he spread those negative rumours about himself. Only his family and apprentices know the truth.
... Interestingly, estradiol may play a dual role in modulating NRF2 activity. On the one hand, its metabolites activate NRF2 via the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) (independent of the ER) [29]. While recent studies demonstrated that estradiol leads to an activation of NRF2 in a wide range of cell types [30,31], the estradiol effect was only noted on protein and not on mRNA levels, suggesting that the main effect of estradiol is based on NRF2 protein stabilization [32]. ...
School of Marxism The School of Marxism, established in 2009, including 6 Teaching and Research Department and 2 researching centers. Genistein, the most abundant phytoestrogen in soybeans, may bind to estrogen receptors and perform anticancer activities. Choriocarcinoma is a malignant, trophoblastic and aggressive cancer of the placenta. Few studies are currently available concerning the effects of genistein on choriocarcinoma. In the present study, we investigated the effect of...
To investigate the effects of sulindac metabolites on the proliferation and apoptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cell line ECV304 in vitro. The proliferation of ECV304 was determined by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) method. The cell cycle, apoptosis and the ultrastructure of ECV304 were detected by flow cytometry (FCM) and electron mi...
In 1945, after the defeat of the Japanese in the Second World War, he returned his hometown and joined a militia. He once took part in the battle of liberating Boshan District. Jiao Yulu joined the Communist Party of China in January 1946, and he soon was transferred to Bohai, Shandong and appointed a group leader of the Land Reform movement. By late Chinese Civil War, he worked in Weishi County, Henan province until 1951. In June 1953, he was transferred to Luoyang Mine Machine Manufacturing Plant and worked there until 1962.

Endometrial cancer is a common gynecologic malignancy among women. The molecular mechanisms involved in the progression of endometrial cancer are unclear, which has hampered the development of an effective treatment. Survivin, a newly identified member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family, regulates 2 critical processes in neoplastic transfor...
School of Agriculture and Biology School of Agriculture and Biology, established in 1959, has 5 departments including Food Science & Engineering, Resource and Environment, Landscape Architecture, Plant Sciences and Animal Sciences. Currently, the school has more than 1100 students and 147 full time faculties (143 doctors, 50 professors). It offers 5 bachelor degree subjects (Plant Science, Animal Science, Food Science and Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Resource and Environmental Science), 6 master degree subjects (Food Science and Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Ecology, Animal Husbandry, Agriculture Extension), and 5 doctoral degree subjects (Horticulture, Animal Science and Engineering, Food Science and Engineering, Ecology, Regional Planning and LA Design). The school has established close relationships with more than 30 world-renowned universities. It offers student exchange programs, 2+2 dual bachelor degree programs, joint PH.D programs, etc. The overall international co-operations in SAB provides students and faculties a wide internationalized platform for academic and research.

School of Mathematical Sciences The School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) enjoys a rich history dating back to the establishment of Department of Mathematics in 1928, 32 years after the founding of the university. One evidence of its place in modern mathematics in China is that the first Congress of the Chinese Mathematical Society was held in 1935 at SJTU. In 2014, the Department of Mathematics was selected by the central government as one of the first four Model Schools for Internationalization, which encourages us to be more internationalization in its practices, vision and outlook. With the growth in size, it was reorganized into the School of Mathematical Sciences in December 2015. With more than 100 faculties members, the school now consists of 3 departments (Mathematics, Applied and Computational Mathematics, and Statistics) and 1 center (Research Center for Mathematics Education).
School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology The School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology was jointly founded by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Shanghai branch) in 1997. The 139 faculty members, including 51 full professors and 60 associate professors, are dedicated to cultivating diverse and unique talents in undergraduate students and postgraduate researchers. The School is also home to the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism and the Key Laboratory for Genetics Development and Neuropsychiatric Disorder. Our faculties, led by two prominent members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have earned numerous prestigious awards and international recognitions. By the 2017 ESI-based matrix, we ranked in the top 1% world-wide in Biology and Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Microbiology, and Plant and Animal Science. Hosting two state-level education bases, we administer a six-year combined bachelor-master program and an eight-year bachelor-master-PhD program. 1193 students are currently enrolled, including 303 undergraduates and 890 graduate students.
To study the expression of VEGF, KDR, MMP-1, and its transcription factor Ets-1 on the interstitial neovasculogenesis in human cervical carcinoma on molecular level, which may provide further theoretic bases on judgement of prognosis and explain interregularity between neovasculagenetic factors. VEGF, KDR, MMP-1, and Ets-1 were detected in 87 cervi...
