Ovarian clear cell adenocarcinoma (OCCA) is an aggressive ovarian malignancy with a poor prognosis. The role of estrogen receptor β (ERβ) in the development of OCCA remains to be clarified. To investigate the action of ERβ in the proliferation and invasion of OCCA cells, the ES-2 cell line was stably transfected with full-length human ERβ cDNA, and...

To investigate the inhibitory effect of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitor, sirolimus on expression of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)1alpha protein and growth of ovarian carcinoma in an athymic mouse xenogeneic transplant model of ovarian cancer. Four groups of female nude mice were inoculated subcutaneously with SKOV3 cells. After...

Although glycogen synthase kinase-3 (GSK-3) might act as a tumor suppressor since its inhibition is expected to mimic the activation of Wnt-signaling pathway, GSK-3beta may contribute to NF-kappaB activation in cancer cells leading to increased cancer cell proliferation and survival. Here we report that GSK-3beta activity was involved in the prolif...
Early detection and monitoring the treatment remain the most important factors in improving long-term survival of ovarian cancer patients. New biomarkers that individually or in combination improve the diagnostic performance of existing tumor markers are critically needed. This study uses proteomic approaches to identify new biomarkers for detectio...
In 2008 we published the first set of guidelines for standardizing research in autophagy. Since then, research on this topic has continued to accelerate, and many new scientists have entered the field. Our knowledge base and relevant new technologies have also been expanding. Accordingly, it is important to update these guidelines for monitoring au...

School of Biomedical Engineering The School of Biomedical Engineering (BME) aims to satisfy the major needs of global development and meet the demand for interdisciplinary programs between medicine, science, and engineering. Based on the current frontiers of international research, major national needs, interdisciplinary programs, and the existing foundation of SJTU, BME consists the following six disciplines: Biomedical Instrumentation, Neuroscience and Engineering, Medical Imaging & Informatics, Nano-biomaterials, Systems Biology & Medicine, and Biological Sciences & Diseases. BME has been dedicated in cultivating high-level research, development, and management talents that are internationally competitive in the field of biomedical engineering.

Chemotherapy-resistance is the major obstacle for endometrial carcinoma patient administration. Accumulated evidences indicate that metformin sensitizes cancers from several different sites to chemotherapy drugs and reverses progestin resistance in endometrial cancer. Our group has demonstrated that metformin reverses progestin resistance and enhan...

In addition to having a strong academic record, students who show a strong interest and the potential to pursue a research career are selected. In 2014, the talent training model of Zhiyuan College won the first-class award of “National Teaching Achievement Award”; and in 2016, “Zhiyuan Model” won “Cultivating Curiosity Award” and “Natural Sciences Award” of “Reimagine Education 2016”, which is jointly hosted by Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and QS—international institution for world university rankings on education.

KoGuan Law School Legal education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University can be traced back to special and political classes during the period of Nanyang College in September 1901. However, it was interrupted during the education reform in 1950s until the Law School was re-established on June 8 2002. The law School received the new title “KoGuan School of Law” in 2008 in memorial of the generous donation of Professor Leo KoGuan. KoGuan School of Law has a strong, well-structured and international team of faculty, including 65 full-time faculty members. A variety of research centers within the law school has produced high quality scholarship covering a wide range of fields and disciplines, from constitutional law to law and society, from maritime law to competition law, etc. KoGuan School of Law has explored its own style of educating a new generation of law students and future jurists, and established its own reputation in both academic and practical circles. For the time being, it offers a full-scale legal education system including LLB, LLM, JM, and PhD programs.
Huang Yaoshi makes several brief appearances in the sequel. He rescues Cheng Ying from Li Mochou and accepts the child as his student. He develops a special bond with Yang Guo as both of them share the same distaste for the societal norms of their time, and he teaches Yang Guo two of his celebrated skills. Huang Yaoshi also participates in the defence of Xiangyang from Mongol invaders. At the end of the novel, he retains his original title as "Eastern Heretic" of the new "Five Greats" on Mount Hua, alongside Zhou Botong, Yang Guo, Guo Jing and Yideng.
The university's School of International Education is located here, where a large number of international students take classes throughout the academic year (however, most international students that take degree courses are in Minhang campus). The campus still houses a variety of scientific research institutions, State Key Laboratory of Ocean Engineering for instance, although most moved to the new campus since 1987.
