Early detection and monitoring the treatment remain the most important factors in improving long-term survival of ovarian cancer patients. New biomarkers that individually or in combination improve the diagnostic performance of existing tumor markers are critically needed. This study uses proteomic approaches to identify new biomarkers for detectio...
Huang Yaoshi is married to Feng Heng and has six apprentices. He has scores of servants on his island, who are deaf and mute. Rumours in the jianghu say that he intentionally disabled them, but in fact, they were already mute and deaf before they became his servants. He recruited them as his servants to relieve them from the social stigma of their impairments so that they can enjoy a better life on his island. However, he does not wish to promote an image of himself as a kind and compassionate person so he spread those negative rumours about himself. Only his family and apprentices know the truth.
Because the activation of telomerase is a relatively early event in the progression of cervical carcinogenesis, the expression of the human telomerase RNA gene, TERC, has the potential to serve as a biomarker for both the diagnosis and prognosis of cervical neoplasias. In total, 83 research centers participated in the study, and 7786 patients were...
Background: Insulin resistance (IR) has been well studied in the initiation and development of endometrial endometrioid carcinoma (EEC). As yet, it has been largely neglected for estrogen sensitivity in local endometrium in hyperinsulinemia-induced systemic microenvironment. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of insulin in regulating...
... Likewise, our network analyses further support the role of these two GalNAc-Ts in modulating EOC tumorigenesis. Indeed major gene nodes with proven implications in EOC tumorigenesis, including VEGF, PI3K, EZH2, IQGAP1, and HOXD10 [34][35][36][37][38], were downregulated upon GALNT3 ablation. Moreover, multiple gene nodes reported to be involved in EOC progression (such as CUL1 EEF2, PTN, UCHL1, CBX5, USP14, and BMI-1 [39][40][41][42][43][44]) were strongly affected by the GALNT3/T6 double KO. ...

In June 1962, he was appointed Communist Party Secretary of Weishi County. In December, he became the Second Communist Party Secretary of Lankao County. This region had declined into poverty and ignorance. The county had long been plagued by dust storms, waterlogging, and alkaline lands.[3] Jiao Yulu devoted his energies to fight economic backwardness. He mobilized the local residents to contend with the poor natural conditions. Due to years of toil, Jiao Yulu broke down from constant overwork and he was diagnosed with liver cancer. But he continued his struggle against natural disasters. On May 14, 1964, he died of liver cancer, aged 42.[3]
Huiyuan (Chinese: 慧遠; Wade–Giles: Hui-yüan; 334–416 AD) was a Chinese Buddhist teacher who founded Donglin Temple on Mount Lushan in Jiangxi province and wrote the text On Why Monks Do Not Bow Down Before Kings in 404 AD. He was born in Shanxi province but after a long life of Buddhist teaching he wound up in Jiangxi province, where he died in 416. Although he was born in the north, he moved south to live within the bounds of the Eastern Jin Dynasty.
To examine the expressions of glyoxalase I (GLO-I) in endometrial cancer tissues and cell lines and to investigate the roles of GLO-I on proliferation and apoptosis in endometrial cancer cells. Immunohistochemistry, western blot and RT-PCR were used to investigate the expressions of GLO-I protein and mRNA in endometrial cancer tissues and Ishikawa...
Our previous study revealed that estrogen regulates nm23-H1 expression thus promoting cell migration-invasion via activating PIK3/Akt pathway. In this study, we explored the effect of hormone on hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1alpha), a key factor in cancer invasion and metastasis, via activation of Akt signaling transduction pathway. We treated t...
OCT4, a stem cell marker, is overexpressed in several types of human cancer and can induce resistance to chemotherapy and inhibition of apoptosis. We previously demonstrated that human follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) can inhibit ovarian cancer cell apoptosis. However, the role of OCT4 in FSH-induced inhibition of apoptosis has not been reported...
Jiao Yulu was born in Yuanquan Town of Boshan District, in Zibo city, in Shandong province, to a poor family, on August 16, 1922, during the Republic of China.[3] Both his father Jiao Fangtian (焦方田) and mother were farmers.[3] He had only four years of schooling.[3] His father hanged himself during the Second Sino-Japanese War.[3] Jiao Yulu was conscripted into the Japanese labor and he was sent to coal-mining in Fushun, Liaoning, Manchoukuo.[3] He escaped to Suqian, Jiangsu in the fall of 1943.[3] He had been a farm labourer for two years for the landowner Hu Tairong (胡泰荣).[3]
Objective: The transcription factor Snail, which is implicated in the triggering of epithelial-mesenchymal transitions (EMT), plays an important role in adhesion, invasion and metastasis of tumor cells. In the present study, we assessed 17beta-Estradiol (E2)'s effect on Snail, E-cadherin and MMP-2 expression of epithelial ovarian cancer cell line...

To assess the estrogen and progestin's effect on protein expression of metastasis repression gene nm23-H1 via regulation of phosphorylation signaling in epithelial ovarian cancer cell line ES-2. Ovarian clear cell adenocarcinom cell line ES-2 was treated by different doses of 17beta-estradiol (estrogen), medroxyprogestogen (progestin) and dimethyl...
Estrogen and progestin are involved in ovarian carcinogenesis. Change in nm23-H1 expression and the PIK3/AKT pathway are involved in carcinogenesis, development, invasion and metastasis of ovarian cancers. Therefore, it is critical to understand the signaling pathways that regulate hormone-induced cell migration and invasion in ovarian cancer. We i...

A few highly aggressive and malignant tumor cells could acquire identities by turning on genes expressed by endothelial cells and recruit blood vessels to sustain tumor growth. Hypoxia was reported recently to play an essential role in these events. These 'plastic' tumor-cell phenotypes and the exact mechanism driving transendothelial differentiati...
