To compare the therapeutic and toxic profile of topotecan given intraperitoneally with intravenously in human ovarian cancer xenografted into athymic nude mice. Eighty female Balb-c/nu-nu mice were randomized assigned into eight groups (n=10). Xenografts resulted from intramesentery injection of cultured human ovarian cancer cells SKOV3 in athymic...
Ovarian cancers are heterogeneous and contain stem-like cells that are able to self-renew and are responsible for sustained tumor growth. Metastasis in peritoneal cavity occurs more frequently in ovarian cancer than in other malignancies, but the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown. We have identified that ovarian cancer stem-like cells (C...

Objective: To investigate the chemosensitivity of ovarian cancer SK-OV-3ip1 multicellular aggregates (MCA) to cisplatin and taxol and to explore the possible mechanisms. Methods: Liquid overlay system was employed to obtain MCA. We detected the resistance using trypan blue exclusion testing, clonogenic assay, cell cycle profiles and apoptosis with...
Zhou Botong realised that he had been tricked by Huang Yaoshi so he returned to Peach Blossom Island to demand an explanation from Huang. Huang Yaoshi was still embattled by the loss of his wife. Zhou Botong's confrontational attitude merely fuelled the anger and frustration in him. When Huang Yaoshi blamed Zhou Botong for his wife's death, Zhou retorted angrily that he had also suffered in a similar experience with Liu Ying. Huang Yaoshi and Zhou Botong started fighting but neither of them was able to defeat his opponent. Huang Yaoshi imprisoned Zhou Botong on his island by sealing all possible exit routes. Zhou Botong roamed the island and settled in a cave for the next 15 years. During that period of time, Huang Yaoshi and Zhou Botong taunted each other to fight and kept themselves occupied with their conflict. Their feud is resolved when Guo Jing visits the island and meets Zhou Botong.

... Furthermore, a report indicated that some kind of cervical cancer, such as minimal deviation adenocarcinoma, was not associated with high-risk HPV [25]. Qisang et al. [26] reported a significant positive correlation between positive hTERC gain and HR-HPV infection, histopathologic lesions (all P<0.01) in patients with cervical disease. Our study demonstrates that there are 23% HPV-infected positive cases in NNL, and 78.95% in CA group. ...

KoGuan Law School Legal education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University can be traced back to special and political classes during the period of Nanyang College in September 1901. However, it was interrupted during the education reform in 1950s until the Law School was re-established on June 8 2002. The law School received the new title “KoGuan School of Law” in 2008 in memorial of the generous donation of Professor Leo KoGuan. KoGuan School of Law has a strong, well-structured and international team of faculty, including 65 full-time faculty members. A variety of research centers within the law school has produced high quality scholarship covering a wide range of fields and disciplines, from constitutional law to law and society, from maritime law to competition law, etc. KoGuan School of Law has explored its own style of educating a new generation of law students and future jurists, and established its own reputation in both academic and practical circles. For the time being, it offers a full-scale legal education system including LLB, LLM, JM, and PhD programs.
Endometrial cancer is a common gynecologic malignancy among women. The molecular mechanisms involved in the progression of endometrial cancer are unclear, which has hampered the development of an effective treatment. Survivin, a newly identified member of the inhibitor of apoptosis (IAP) family, regulates 2 critical processes in neoplastic transfor...
Extensive exposure to estrogen is generally acknowledged as a risk factor for endometrial cancer. Given that the accumulation of adipocytes also contributes to the increased production of estrogen, in the present study, we evaluated the expression of the fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) gene in endometrial tumor tissues and further explored th...
In the year 404, Huiyuan wrote a treatise On Why Monks Do Not Bow Down Before Kings (沙門不敬王者論).[4] This book symbolized his efforts to assert the political independence of Buddhist clergy from the courts of monarchic rulers. At the same time, it was a religious and political text that aimed to convince monarchs and Confucian-minded ministers of state that followers of Buddhism were ultimately not subversive. He argued that Buddhists could make good subjects in a kingdom due to their beliefs in retribution of karma and the desire to be reborn in paradise. Despite the Buddhists' reputation of leaving their family behind for a monastic life, Huiyuan stated "those who rejoice in the Way of the Buddha invariably first serve their parents and obey their lords."[1]
