Research in autophagy continues to accelerate,(1) and as a result many new scientists are entering the field. Accordingly, it is important to establish a standard set of criteria for monitoring macroautophagy in different organisms. Recent reviews have described the range of assays that have been used for this purpose.(2,3) There are many useful an...
Gankyrin has been implicated in the formation of multiple cancer types, although its roles in estrogen-driven endometrial carcinoma remain unclarified. We evaluated the expression of Gankyrin in endometrial tissues and further explored its roles in estrogen-driven and GPR30-mediated endometrial cancer cell proliferation. Gankyrin was overexpressed...
... LiCl treatment can induce apoptosis in cancer cells (Kaufmann, 2011) and reduce the incidence of cancer of non-epithelial origin (Cohen et al., 1998). In addition, it has been shown that LiCl treatment can inhibit cancer cell proliferation through Wnt signaling ( Qi et al., 2006). In the present study, our results showed that LiCl treatment affects the expression of miR-17-92 cluster, which is known as oncomir-1 and plays vital roles in a variety of cellular processes such as cell proliferation and apoptosis. ...
School of Pharmacy SJTU School of Pharmacy was founded in 2000, and now it has 85 academic, administrative and technical staff members. The School has 17 research and teaching laboratories covering the complete spectrum of curriculum and disciplines of pharmacy education and research including medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical microbiology & biochemistry, pharmacognosy, and traditional Chinese medicine. SJTU School of Pharmacy is a research-orientated institution. Its graduate student body, enrolled in Ph.D., M.Sc. and M.Eng. programs, is as twice larger as its undergraduate classes. Both of the undergraduate and graduate courses are given by individual research laboratories each consisting of a professor and two to four junior academic staffs. SJTU School of Pharmacy has not only developed scientific programs but also nurtured an educational and research environment that is liberal and innovation-orientated. The school has now become a leading institute and an ideal place for pharmacy education and pharmaceutical research in the nation.
In 1896, the Nanyang Public School (南洋公學) was founded in Shanghai by the imperial edict of the Guangxu Emperor, under the Business and Telegraphs Office of the Qing imperial government. Four schools were established: a normal school, a school of foreign studies, a middle school, and a high school. Sheng Xuanhuai, the mandarin who proposed the idea to the Guangxu Emperor, became the first president and is, along with missionary educator John Calvin Ferguson, regarded as the founder of the university.
Objective: This research was carried out to investigate the effectiveness, rationality, and safety of laparotomy management compared with uterine artery embolization (UAE) combined with methotrexate (MTX) for the treatment of deep implantation cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP II). Materials and methods: Data from 29 patients seen between June 2008 and...

School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering The School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering (NAOCE) has a strong tradition of excellence and is comprised of five departments: naval architecture and ocean engineering, engineering mechanics, civil engineering, architecture, and transportation and shipping logistics. It is the home of the State Key Laboratory of Ocean Engineering and the Collaborative Innovation Center for Advanced Ship and Deep-Sea Exploration. The naval architecture and ocean engineering program has been ranked No. 1 in 2017 Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. The School also features two state key disciplines (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering; Mechanics). The School has 224 faculty members, including 78 professors and 90 associate professors. Among them, there are seven academicians of CAS and CAE, eight Thousand Talents Plan experts, six MOE Cheung Kong Scholars, and two NSFC distinguished young researchers.
In June 1962, he was appointed Communist Party Secretary of Weishi County. In December, he became the Second Communist Party Secretary of Lankao County. This region had declined into poverty and ignorance. The county had long been plagued by dust storms, waterlogging, and alkaline lands.[3] Jiao Yulu devoted his energies to fight economic backwardness. He mobilized the local residents to contend with the poor natural conditions. Due to years of toil, Jiao Yulu broke down from constant overwork and he was diagnosed with liver cancer. But he continued his struggle against natural disasters. On May 14, 1964, he died of liver cancer, aged 42.[3]
Chemoresistance is the major obstacle to cure endometrial cancer, whereas metformin has demonstrated sensitization to chemotherapy in endometrial cancer. A novel finding states that isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 (IDH1) involves in cancer chemoresistance. Recent studies have revealed that epigenetic modifications facilitate chemoresistance. However, wh...
... Interestingly, estradiol may play a dual role in modulating NRF2 activity. On the one hand, its metabolites activate NRF2 via the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) (independent of the ER) [29]. While recent studies demonstrated that estradiol leads to an activation of NRF2 in a wide range of cell types [30,31], the estradiol effect was only noted on protein and not on mRNA levels, suggesting that the main effect of estradiol is based on NRF2 protein stabilization [32]. ...
